R.I.P. Derrick Dalton

Tragically, this week musician Derrick Dalton passed away.

He was a fine songwriter, guitarist and Rickenbacker lover as well as a gentle soul, a lovely person and a great laugh. He was a huge supporter of music in Dublin and I bumped into him and Laura at countless gigs, big and small, local and international.

Over the years, Derrick played variously with Hey Paulette, Mexican Pets, Crumb and with his own project Aeromodeller.

He will be much missed and my sympathies are with his wife Laura, his family and his many friends.

R.I.P. Derrick.

  4. I’ll miss you terribly Derrick. You were such an impressive person both in your talents and interests and as a friend. You have shown incredible humility, forgiveness and loyalty over the years. I’ll do my best to help Laura for you in any small way I can. She will need all the strength and support we can give her. You will be fondly remembered by us all.

  6. My God!! I met Derrick when he was part of the Freres Jackman tour of the Shetland Isles in the early 90’s. Instant friendships were formed during those special times. The band and friends stayed for two weeks on the first tour and I found it difficult to say goodbye to Derrick, Pat, John, Mat, Martin etc when they left. This was partly due to the fact we had been living & party-ing together for two weeks but also because of the open kind nature of Derrick and all our new found friends, we just clicked. Derrick was a wonderfully kind open person who treated me on all occasions we met like a life long friend. I am shocked and saddened to learn of his passing and would like to say he made a lasting impression on me and a number of other Shetlanders in the short time our paths crossed. Paul.

  7. May Derrick Rest In Peace with His Maker/Animal Spirit Guide/Saint

This was grand. The internet remind me of all of the brilliant talents that are out there beyond the edges of the dial and media conglomerates. Be well Derrick, you’ve made something beautiful. I thank you.
